This is from Another Hogwarts RPG and written by Professor Thewlis (see below). I did not alter it in any way. We won't be deleting profiles, as I like to keep them as records, but let this be a warning to all of you who are thinking of copying someone else's.
How would you feel, if, one day, you entered a new site and found a character with a different name of your own, but whose profile was a perfect copy of your own, the one you had created to a character of yours, to a character that was born in you to which you gave love and care and took you time to create?
It wouldn't be fun, would it? Not at all.
Having your character in someone else's hands, someone you don't even know, someone that used your creation to have some fun.
I thought it was common sense for everyone that plagiarism is low. But, unfortunately, recent actions showed us that not everyone has common sense and respect for other people's work and ownership.
Also, plagiarism IS a crime and EVERY writter should be ashamed of copying other people's profiles and writtings and creations and giving them as their own. I mean, someone who does this can't even be called a writter, or a fair player, in any sense.
If you want to know better what I'm talking about, go here(you'll find it easily enough)
It is a shame, isn't it?
And sure, it is the first case on this site. But it will also, hopefully, be the last.
We respect all our fellow writters and roleplayers, and we respect everyone's imagination and creativity, and also, we respect every character in here. Even if they are not exactly real, they are still ours and they still keep us company, right? Nobody should steal them away from us!
Therefore, if you know about more people copying other's profiles, or any other thing concerning plagiarism taking place on the site, INFORM one of us RIGHT AWAY.
Also, once your character has been selected on the Sorting Hat, you are allowed to remove their profiles and write something like [REMOVED TO AVOID PLAGIARISM] instead, editing, to, well, avoid plagiarism.
I hope this rule stays alive in everyone's mind because we will be really harsh with people that commit such an horrible thing. I hope everyone supports this and help us in this.
Thank you.
