Dammit, this is my second writeup. Pressed the back button. All gone. So I'll give you the *cough* brief version.
I know you don't want to hear (or read) someone blabbing about stuff you already know. I don't want to blab about something you already know. But I want to make sure we're on the same page and I don't run a n00b-infested site. So, my advice would be to shut your mouth and read. I've put the most important parts in bold.

The Basics
1. You should be a decent writer/role-player. This means nice (but not too thorough) descriptions of your character, the weather, etc.; dialogue; thought. I've asked around, and first on everyone's most-hated list is thirty-line posts. Second is two-line ones. So how's about we compromise: four-line minimum, twenty-four line maximum, size one, except for the first post in a thread. You can judge by the Live Preview under the smiles.
2. Listen to me, and listen to the mods. I gave them admin powers for a reason. If you think one of them is acting unreasionably, PM me.
3. Remember that this is a game. People are always getting mad at each other for what happened in an RPG, but it's not real. If I catch people flaming at each other I'll do... something... unless I think they have a real reason.
4. If you wouldn't mind, keep one character per account. That way you have more room for avs, sigs, text, etc. And the post count stays fair.
5. Speaking of profiles, I'd like to have a certain format. If you just have text, go ahead and fill up all 400 characters. No pictures wider than 500 pixels or taller than 200. If you have two pictures in your sig, I'd like 500x150 max for each. Three, 500x100 max. Sorry if this sounds strict, but overlarge sigs are annoying. Also, if you usually don't post that much, i'd appreciate it if your sig is no bigger than your average post. You don't have to do that, but you can.

Profiles1. Try to avoid cliches. The whole "I was an Alpha but my whole pack died" thing gets old. Same with the character cliches: "I'm a pretty white wolf with blue eyes and I'm smart and nice and a good hunter". Puh-lease. There aren't even that many white wolves out there. 2. These should be your own characters. I don't want to see any Fells or Larkas or Wolfbanes or Bucks or Spitzes or White Fangs or Baltos or Steeles or what have you. Especially if they look like their originals. 3. Try to think of interesting names. Midnight, Moonlight, Thunder, Lightning, Mist, Rain, Silver, Fire, Death, Killer... they get old. Not just those. If you can't think of a name, try BabyNames.com. They have a lot of them. 4. Despite the fact that this is a fantasy RPG, play it realistically. No pink wolves, no wings, horns, tribal markings, or special powers. I'll touch on that later. However, your eyes can be whatever color you want.5. Don't post anywhere until I approve your profile. The password to the Profiles board is: falling

Posting
1. No spamming. It won't work, anyway, I've disabled post counts on the chat boards. If you want to add to an IC post, modify it.
2. Swearing is allowed, OOC and IC. Just don't go overboard with it, and don't curse anyone out OOC.
3. I can't stress this enough, NO PORN. No dirty images, posts (I won't deny the whole mates thing, go ahead and check out the cute Alpha), links, or language. You can have mating threads, but if anything is going to be graphic, put a [M] tag for mature.
4. Again, no horribly graphic stuff. This goes for hunts and fights too: if something gets too graphic, planned or not, go and modify the first post and put an [M] tag in the title.
5. This isn't a huge one, but if you're going to add a plot twist that effects the whole board, check and okay it with me.
6. (ADDED) One more thing: ~ does not mean the same as ". ~ is for coding, bibliographies, other languages, or ornamentation. This doesn't mean "this", nor does this or this or this or ---this--- or
this
or whatever. Stick to "this." Okay?

Hauntings (The evil stuff. IMPORTANT)
1. I'm not gonna control this stuff too much, but let me explain what your character's going to be dealing with. The "black presence" in the Void, whatever spattered the red stuff (blood?) at Windhallow, is a kind of devilish spirit or spirits called the Hellborn. It's not exactly demonic possession (wolves aren't Christian), but it is evil, and it is powerful.
2. If anyone's seen The Village or read The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, you'll have a pretty good idea of what the Hellborn is. Your character will probably end up seeing a few disemboweled animals, huge claw-marks on trees, and feel something watching him or her. Occasionally he might see disembodied shadows flitting around in the forest, or eyes, or he might hear a voice.
3. Except in hallucinations, your character will never see the Hellborn, at least not what it/they look like. In dreams or hallucinations, the presence might appear as the "ghost" of a dead friend, or as a living friend.
4. You don't have to call them the Hellborn - your character wilil probably have a name for them.
5. The only real, definite rule in this part: your character will never see the Hellborn while there is someone else nearby, only when he/she is alone.

Packs
1. The hierarchy:
-Alpha (GMod) -Beta (Mod) -Subordinate -Omega
No Gammas, Deltas, etc. No Draggas/Drappas or Siklas. Just that.
2. Ask me before you claim a pack. There will be no definite territory, as packs follow the food source. The basics will be the same, but details will change.
3. Respect your betters, whether they're in your pack or not. If you're an Omega, obey the subordinates and up from there. If you're a subordinate, do what the Betas and Alphas say. Betas - gasp - should obey the Alphas.
4. On pack hunts, Alphas get the first taste of the kill. On your own, it's all yours, but remember that one wolf can't take down a deer. A fawn maybe. And no matter what, never hunt on someone else's territory.
5. Especially because the territories shift, do not make boards within your pack board. Don't make boards at all without checking with me first.

Okay, here's the home stretch. I know it looks (and feels) like it was long, but there's only twenty-four rules and much less in bold. There's just a few things I'd like to touch on before you stop reading.
1. If you're going to be gone a long time, say, a week or more, post in the Gone thread in the Kick Your Shoes Off board. Don't make a new thread, just post there.
2. If you're having trouble keeping up with your threads, here's some advice. First, bookmark whatever threads you're in (there's an icon at the top of the thread that says BOOKMARK). If you have a lot of them going and feel you're spread too thin, make an exit in one or two of them.
3. Have fun. That's the most important thing. If the site starts freaking you out, take a break, just remember to post your leave. If it's boring, make a new plot twist or find a mate. If you really think you need to leave, permanently, post on the Leaving thread in the Kick Your Shoes Off board and get someone to kill your character. Leave your account intact.
